This isn’t just button-pushing in Blender. Piotr walks you through his whole environment design workflow for games and movies, and actually explains why he’s doing what he’s doing. Long one, but in a good way – lots of talk about fundamentals, art choices, and creative calls.
🎯 What you’ll learn
- Build production-style environments for games and movies in Blender
- Plan composition, scale, and storytelling with fundamentals in mind
- Block out fast and iterate on ideas without getting stuck
- Use HardOps and Boxcutter for clean hard-surface concept modeling
- Add fabrics and soft details with Simply Cloth workflow
- Light, texture, and polish a concept to a portfolio-ready finish
✅ Requirements
- Skills: Blender basics at donut-tutorial level, familiarity with modeling and texturing
- Tools: Blender 4.3 (3.6 scenes planned), HardOps + Boxcutter addon, Simply Cloth optional for fabrics
- Hardware: Dedicated GPU recommended, RTX 3000 series for smooth workflow
📝 Description
This tutorial is long on purpose. Instead of just showing clicks, Piotr slows down and talks through the whole thing – why a shape works, when to stop detailing, how a creative choice supports the story. If you’ve watched speedpaints and thought “yeah but why did you do that?”, this fixes that gap.
The focus is environment concept art, all done in Blender. You’ll get his narrated process across 10 hours plus another 3 hours of bonus, plus the actual blend scenes to pull apart. He keeps characters in the scenes for scale and vibe, but heads up – this isn’t a character design or rigging course.
Tech-wise it’s pretty lean. You just need Blender, plus HardOps with Boxcutter if you want that fast hard-surface flow. Simply Cloth is optional for those fabric bits. Scenes are saved in Blender 4.3, with 3.6 versions on the way since pre-4.0 just runs smoother for a lot of folks. An RTX 3000-series card helps keep the viewport happy.
