📝 Description
This is not theory for theory’s sake. You start with what makes a shot work — shaping, background separation, and hero color. Mike shows you how to carve out a face with light, push a character off a busy plate, and lean into the one color that sells the design. Short lessons, clear examples, no fluff.
Then you get into the stuff that sells a close-up. How to build eye lighting that feels alive, how to use specularity for better form, and how to handle Rembrandt lighting without making it look like a textbook setup. You will also tackle black and white characters, animal eyes, and hero vs. villain reads. That is where most junior reels fall apart, and where you can pull ahead.
You also get film breakdowns from live-action and animation to train your eye. And if you do not have a character? No excuse. The course includes a rigged character and background plates so you can pose, light, and render right away. Fast path to finished shots.
