This is how a real VTuber studio actually works. You follow Mozaic Heaven Atelier through a full commission — reading client briefs, cutting art for Live2D Cubism, then rigging 180-degree head angles, body leans, physics, and effects until the model is ready to stream.
🎯 What you’ll learn
- Grasp your client’s design vision and translate briefs into a workable character concept
- Prepare clean, rig-ready assets with proper cutting and layer separation
- Build a solid model foundation with artmeshes, deformers, and bone-like hierarchy
- Rig expressive facial features, head X/Y/Z angles, and hair physics
- Create personality-driven body language, leans, and multi-angle movement
- Add visual effects, check quality across 9 angles, and export to VTube Studio
✅ Requirements
- Skills: Basic digital drawing fundamentals, familiarity with layers and illustration workflow
- Tools: Clip Studio Paint, Live2D Cubism 5.1.03+, Blender 4.3.2+, PureRef 2.0.3+, DesignDoll 6.0.0+, drawing tablet
- Hardware: PC capable of running Live2D and Blender, minimum 16GB RAM, dedicated GPU recommended
📝 Description
You get two instructors for the price of one here, and that’s what makes this class practical. Hsteetee covers the illustration side — how to read a vague client brief, use shape language for personality, lock a design with sketches and color variants, and cut everything so your rigger doesn’t hate you. Then Andrew takes over in Live2D Cubism and shows the studio setup: artmeshes, deformer hierarchy, and a bone-like frame that actually holds up when the model moves.
The middle chunk is all about angles and life. You’ll build head turns with orthographic tricks and a Blender head reference, push facial muscles for believable expressions on high X-angles, and handle Z-angles with and without gimbal. For the body, it’s lines of action, weight, Pos X / Pos Y tricks, and advanced leans — plus the mistakes that make leans look broken. Physics gets its own full breakdown: weight, inertia, tracking, and trigger conditions, so hair and clothes settle instead of jittering.
Last part is the polish that sells commissions. Shiny pendants, transparent shawls with animated sparkles, parallax shadows, backlights, and custom eye effects. Then a proper QC pass across all 9 angles, texture atlas optimization, clipping cleanup, and export to VTube Studio. You also get the real workfiles: model art PSD, CMO3 rig file, 3D head reference, and multi-angle PNGs.
