Enjoy the course! 🚀

This is the full studio workflow for making a 2D VTuber actually feel alive. The team from Baily Studio walks you through Live2D Cubism Editor from PSD import to final VTube Studio setup, with a heavy focus on faces, head angles, body turns, and physics that don’t look janky on stream.

🎯 What you’ll learn

    • Operate Live2D Cubism Editor and prepare PSDs for clean rigging
    • Rig eyes, eyebrows, mouths and VB mouths for sharp face capture
    • Build head Z rotation and mirror eyes efficiently
    • Build head X/Y rotation with nine-axis perspective and four-corner synthesis
    • Build body X/Y/Z rotation for natural turns and leans
  • Create believable physics for hair, clothes, ears and tails
  • Set up models, shortcuts and face capture in VTube Studio
  • Create switchable emotes, simple animations and static/dynamic buttons

✅ Requirements

  • Skills: Basic understanding of Photoshop layers and anime-style illustration
  • Tools: Live2D Cubism Editor 5.0, Adobe Photoshop 2023, VTube Studio, VBridger
  • Hardware: PC capable of running Live2D Cubism Editor and VTube Studio smoothly

📝 Description

This isn’t theory. It’s how a working Live2D studio actually rigs VTubers for clients, broken into steps you can copy. You start with the boring-but-important stuff: PSD imports, layer order, interface tools, shortcuts. Get that wrong and you’ll fight your model for the rest of the project. Get it right and everything after gets faster.

Then you get into faces, because that’s where streams live or die. You’ll rig eyes, eyebrows, and mouths to match the character’s personality, set up VB mouths for talking, and use mirroring tricks to avoid doing the same work twice. The goal is simple: clean blinks, readable expressions, and solid face capture in VTS without weird stretching.

From there it’s all about dimension. Head X/Y with nine-axis logic, back-hair fixes, four-corner synthesis for smooth turns. Then body X/Y/Z so leans and side angles don’t break the silhouette. The instructors explain perspective in plain terms and show what to hide, what to deform, and when to use shape inversion.

Physics gets its own full pass. You’ll learn pendulum setups, how weight, length, and material change motion, and how to tune hair, clothes, ears, and tails so they bounce but don’t spaz out. Plus the fun extras: dizzy eyes, toggle emotes, transparency switches, and key-triggered buttons for stream interactions.

You finish in VTube Studio — face capture tuning, shortcut keys, model updates, avatar rigging, and all the common gotchas that make a good model look bad on stream. You also get the class perks: VTuber rigging PSD files, CMO3 rigging details, and a flexible ears + tail project file to study.

🧑‍🎓 Who this course is for

  • Beginners who know basic Photoshop and want to rig their first stream-ready VTuber
  • Intermediate riggers stuck with stiff head turns, flat faces, or messy physics
  • Illustrators and aspiring freelancers who want a real studio workflow for client work

🧑‍🏫 About the Author

Baily Studio is a dedicated Live2D studio focused on VTuber illustration and modeling. The team has shipped 600+ Live2D projects and handled rigging tech for a long list of well-known VTubers across Twitter, Bilibili, and global streamer communities.

Their credits include collaborations with gaming companies and partners like Huya, iFlytek, and Yuefu, the largest virtual streamer guild on Bilibili, plus award-winning work tied to Honkai: Star Rail. Six pro riggers teach this class, so you get different eyes on the same problems — faces, angles, physics, and final polish.

🏁 Final Result

  • A fully rigged 2D VTuber model with facial rig, head/body angles, physics, emotes and VTube Studio setup, ready for streaming and portfolio use.
