Create unique garments by printing your own designs by hand
The fusion of artistic synergies is something increasingly widespread that encourages the creation of projects as interesting as Festela Store, a clothing brand involved in the Slow Fashion founded by Mireia and Merce, a designer graphic and a fashion designer. Both decided to undertake with the idea of creating unique and timeless textile pieces full of prints and prints made by hand.

In this course, they will teach you the technique they use to create their prints manually. You will learn to carry out the whole process of printing a garment, from the creation of a moodboard to experimentation with objects random , to take out prints and later translate them with a stencil and a screen printing screen on a textile garment.

What will you learn in this online course?
Mireia and Merce will explain more about the background of each one and how they started with their brand Festela. They will teach you works that they have been creating, they will talk to you about their references and they will provide you with a long list of pages that will surely inspire you.

You will see how to print with a screen printing screen, photoliths and homemade acetates, although you will focus on the technique of stencil which is the easiest way to print: with just one screen printing screen you can create an infinity of prints .

You will learn the creative process when making your projects. First you will create your own universe through a moodboard with your references, ideas and color ranges from which, you will start creating.

Then you will select the necessary materials to create the design of your prints on paper from objects random . Mireia and Merce will teach you examples and encourage you to experiment with everyday objects. Create shapes, spots, drawings, compositions … free your creativity!

You will see the different inks for screen printing, you will learn to differentiate between acramines and lacquers, and you will see what effects are generated when mixing colors.

You will take the prints that you designed on paper and with the help of the cutter you will pass them to an acetate paper ( stencils ), then use the screen printing screen and print a garment in all over to four inks, and then in another garment in positional to three inks.

Once you have stamped your creations and created your clothes, Mireia and Merce will explain how to wash them so they have perfect durability.

Finally, they will give you valuable tips to create your own collection and that your pieces enjoy harmony, aesthetics and technique.

What is this course’s project?
You will create prints on paper that later, through the technique of screen printing and stencil , you will print on a t-shirt and a sweatshirt. You will create a positional and another allover pattern.

Requirements and materials
You do not need any previous knowledge, since you will start from scratch.

Regarding the materials, for the first part of the course you will need white and colored papers, brushes, paints, sponges, sprays , scissors, glue, bodybuilding tape, markers and various objects such as: textured papers , grilles, plugs, brush, among others. For the second part of the course you will need acetate paper, cutter, cutting iron, scissors, packing tape, textile inks for screen printing, a piece of cardboard, a canister to mix colors, a spatula, a screen-sized sclerade , a small screen of 43-thread textile screen printing, a dryer, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt of any color.
