Holiday Mood by Marina Lasaeva (Дачное настроение – Russian, Eng sub)

The summer season is rich in subjects for paintings. Let’s start preparing in advance with a marathon led by Marina Lasaeva. We will create four compositions using different materials, learning the ‘lightness’ of watercolors and sharp graphic techniques. Pinecones, flowers, a still life with a samovar, and gooseberries with a liner pen – these will be great inspirations for the upcoming creative season. The marathon starts on March 18th – join us!

I have a long-standing friendship with watercolors. In art school, and later in art college, we were taught painting using watercolor techniques, occasionally using gouache. I only learned oil painting on my own, out of personal interest. But watercolors have always been my favorite, it just happened that way. I also understand that you can improve your skills in watercolors throughout your entire life, as there are no limits to what you can achieve with this medium. It’s never-ending, and there’s always something new and interesting to discover.
