This training series dives deep into the secrets of advanced visual effects muscle simulation. Instead of using slow, high-resolution assets, we focus on simpler meshes for quicker iteration. You’ll master reconforming muscles to any character, procedurally solving intersections to minimize manual touch-ups, and exploring both simple and complex muscle examples. We’ll cover real-world physics, properties, and how values affect behavior.
You’ll set up an efficient, reusable pipeline with multiple file checkpoints, allowing you to jump in at any stage. We’ll create a baseline character setup where attributes can be inherited for future projects, drastically speeding up your workflow. The course explores the advantages of Franken-Muscles and Multi-Muscle setups, including a switch to blend between them. You’ll learn to procedurally generate tissue and skin volumes using just your asset and efficiently store data for easy topology or point count changes.
The training also focuses on tuning muscle behavior – achieving desired flex, inflation, and jiggle. You’ll learn to procedurally create masks to blend simulations onto specific character parts. A significant section is dedicated to Automatic Preroll Generation, transforming a traditionally manual process into a procedural one with simple sliders. You’ll discover how to retarget animation between differently proportioned characters and start simulations from any animation point using automatically computed best rest poses, ramp-ups, and pre-animation momentum.
