Learn to create portraits of people by controlling the light, colour and textures
Berta Vicente – winner in the portraits category of the Sony World Photography Awards and finalist in the World Photography – will show you her work process when photographing people in a precious way and with a very human character.

In this course you will learn to develop an idea for the shooting, create the environment of ideal complícidad between photographer and model to achieve a joint result and develop the patience and perseverance of a good photographer who needs to go through different photos to reach the final result every detail on the set and in the digital edition.

About this course
You will begin by getting to know Berta’s work better and the things she is passionate about, such as people, balance, color and textures.

Afterwards, Berta will talk about the equipment she uses, starting with the compact digital cameras and SLRs that she used in her beginnings and that taught her to see the photographed reality, until her definitive leap to analog, in both 35mm and half format and Polaroid. This way, you will discover that each photo asks for one format or another.

Then you will attend a photo shoot with a model and you will know how Berta works. Time will run unhurriedly and you will witness how the photographer should get carried away by the situation without creating any tension and trusting in teamwork.

We will not see the images immediately but you will let them rest to take distance and, finally, make some post-production adjustments and print the final result.

What is this course’s project?
It consists of making portraits based on the double meaning (literary and literal) of phrases made in English related to different colors.

Who is it for?
To photographers who want to know the precious method of taking images of Berta Vicente, Art Directors, Designers, creatives in general and photography lovers who want to have fun and want to motivate themselves by taking pictures and talking about them.

What you need
Paper, pen and a reflex camera are necessary. In addition you must know how to handle the manual controls.

If you decide to work with an analog film like Berta, you must have reels, although the course can also be done in digital without problem.

Lastly, you will need a lot of natural light.
