A Road to Houdini SOP Nodes – Essentials for VFX Beginners by Sun Yefei (Cninese, Eng sub)

After more than 20 years of development, Houdini has evolved into a powerful 3D software used in the field of graphics and images. Its node-based operation, cross-platform digital assets, support for multiple languages in production and process development, have made Houdini stand out in the 3D field. However, its flexibility also means that it requires more time to master. Unlike other 3D software, Houdini emphasizes learning the thinking patterns rather than memorizing specific node networks. Therefore, having a strong foundation of basic knowledge is crucial during the learning process. The SOP module, taught in this course, is considered the fundamental core module in Houdini, upon which other modules are built. Mastering the SOP module will make it easier for us to learn and understand the other modules.

This course covers the primary functions of approximately 500 Houdini SOP nodes, aiming to provide you with a solid understanding of their capabilities. The knowledge gained from this course will be valuable for your future career endeavors.
