Although all the works of Havi Cruz -designer and illustrator specialized in lettering- are finished in digital format, it could be said that he is an artisan, since, without exception, his projects always begin with the paper and the attention he puts in each curve, detail and ornament is overwhelming.

In this course you will discover the wonderful art of creating personalized ornamental lettering to highlight your projects at a time when design tends towards minimalism. You will learn the most effective techniques to devise, sketch and make a piece of lettering from scratch, starting from the simplest sketch until you get a digital design.

What will you learn in this online course?
You will start looking for inspiration for your ornamental lettering, creating a moodboard in which you will capture these references and define the color palette of your project.

Once you have the initial idea clear, you will make the first sketches, where you will get the composition that you will use in your lettering.

Later, you will experiment with different types of letters and design a capital letter, the most important of the piece. You will also learn to embellish your lettering with some decorative elements that will give you an extra beauty. Then, you will draw the rest of the letters of the composition, adding more and more details until the sketch is ready.

Next, you will digitize your lettering vectorizing the forms. In this process, Havi will explain important concepts such as the use of guidelines and will reveal some of the design secrets that will bring dynamism to your work, such as the technique of applying light and shadow.

Finally, you will add color and some important details so that the lettering stands out and speaks for itself.

Requirements and materials
You will need basic knowledge of drawing, lettering and some vector program. With regard to materials, it is essential to have basic drawing tools, a computer with Adobe Illustrator, a camera or a scanner and a graphics tablet.
