๐ Description
This is a very hands-on, part-by-part class. Yun starts with the stuff people skip โ how he picks pens in Clip Studio Paint, what brushes he actually uses, what shortcuts save time. Then he gets into the core: what makes a character read as feminine. Not vague theory. Face shapes, eye placement, soft skin, hair flow, how the body balances, how age changes physique, and those small gestures that sell cuteness.
Then it shifts to presentation. You will compare standing-character pieces vs. full illustrations with backgrounds, and learn when to show a lot and when to leave stuff out. Amagasa treats background as a tool to push the character forward, not as landscape painting. You get practical calls on silhouette, visual flow, where to put detail, and how to control the viewerโs gaze with composition and value contrast.
The last half is one full walkthrough from zero to done. Brainstorm the situation, sketch with references, lock the scale of the background, set the light source with layer masks, then do clean line art, underpainting, and color planning. The texture demos are the best part โ eyes, skin shading, hair shine, fabric folds โ all in that current 2D stylized look. He closes with how to finish without overdoing effects, so the piece stays clean and readable.
