Her Mother’s Locket by Dan Gerhartz

A note from the producers:
This video is the result of the rare privilege we had to film Dan as he created this beautiful painting for gallery sale. This is not the typical demonstration painting seen in workshops. Painted over a period of four days, Dan spares nothing in his commentary to explain the reasons he paints in the manner he does. Although he receives countless invitations to teach workshops around the country, his gallery and show obligations prevent him from scheduling more than one or two a year. To be able to reach painters who want to study with him outside these rare workshops, he allowed us to film this subject to fill that need. Given the time in the familiar surroundings of his own studio, he is able to show all the thoughts and decisions that are required to bring a painting of this consequence to fruition.
