This comprehensive tutorial will teach you a node-based texturing workflow in Mari, developed and tested in a feature film production environment over the last few years. You’ll start with a demo of a custom template designed to showcase your textures at the highest quality in Mari. You’ll learn how to texture skin, apply makeup, and texture costumes, and apply those maps to shaders in Maya.

The importance of keeping shaders simple will be explained, and a bonus chapter will show you how to sculpt within Mari and the advantages of this technique. You’ll receive a custom template and wrinkle brush developed specifically for sharp wrinkle detail. If you don’t have a copy of Mari, the non-commercial version can be used, and a separate template is available for it. Most of the texture process has been recorded, and the changes made in between chapters are explained in detail.
