Generative art is the awesome and fascinating world of making art with code. Using code, it can be super easy to make beautiful animations. This class will show you how to use two functions called sin() and cos() to make art that draws in circles. You will make a beautiful and unique animation to show off to your friends with just a very small amount of code! The best part is that you really don’t have to understand the math or the code at all to do this.

What you need:

All you REALLY need is Processing, which you can get for free.
If you want to convert your Processing sketch into an actual movie, you need Adobe Premiere Pro.
And if you want to convert that movie into a GIF, you will need Adobe Photoshop.

In this class you will learn:

  • What sin() and cos() are and how to use them to draw in circles
  • How to adjust the circle by changing numbers in relation to sin() and cos()
  • How to break the circle to turn it into beautiful and fun shapes
  • What sort of things to play with to turn the drawing into a beautiful and fun animation
  • How to export the frames from Processing
  • How to convert those frames into a movie using Premiere Pro
  • How to convert the movie into a GIF using Photoshop
  • By the end of the class you will have your own movie and GIF animation.
