📝 Description
This isn’t theory for theory’s sake. Sjoop teaches the way she actually works in the game industry — fast, flexible half-line illustration with a heavy focus on lighting and post-correction. You start with brushes, shortcuts, and copying exercises to get your hands warm, then move straight into light.
The middle of the class is all about making light readable. You’ll study Blender head models to see how key light and ambient light wrap around a face, then practice the same setups in 2D: top light, side light, backlight, plus tricky ones like night, underwater, and flashlight. Sjoop also breaks down Munsell color, contrast vs. chroma, and how subculture styles simplify SSS and value ranges.
Then you put it to work. You’ll arrange assets with composition theory, paint base colors without redrawing your sketch to death, and blend in photo textures and props by matching intensity and density. The last stretch is pure finishing: faces, hair flow, clothing folds, foreground / background separation, and layer tricks that add glow and punch.
You also get a ton of extras to practice with: 12 .psd exercise files, 3D head models, sphere renders, custom .abr brushes, and 100 pages of PDFs and checklists. If you’ve been self-studying with no clear direction, the final self-evaluation system gives you a practical way to track what to fix next.

🧑🏫 About the Author
Hi, I’m illustrator Sjoop. I started drawing in high school, came up through CG design rather than a traditional art major, and now work across the gaming industry while teaching concept art and illustration at Propic Academy.
My commercial work includes Onmyoji, Gran Saga, Arknights, Girls’ Frontline, plus main illustrations and character design for major Korean studios, card games, and web novels. My class on Propic became known for practical, no-fluff feedback, and this Coloso course is the first time my full half-line process is available online.
🏁 Final Result
- A finished half-line character illustration with full background, props, and cinematic lighting — built from colored rough to final correction and ready for your portfolio.
