This is not just a render tutorial. You take one idea from sketch to a finished 3D poster, then stretch that same file across print, motion, and social without starting over.
🎯 What you’ll learn
- Plan a 3D illustration from moodboard to sketch with characters and type
- Build vector bases in Illustrator and move them into Cinema 4D
- Model simple and complex elements and compose the scene in Cinema 4D
- Animate typography, objects, and characters with deformers and Pose Morph
- Light and render with OctaneRender and prep materials from scratch
- Export for print in CMYK, animated GIF, social banners, and stickers
✅ Requirements
- Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Cinema 4D and Illustrator, basic understanding of 3D space and rendering
- Tools: Cinema 4D R15 or later, OctaneRender, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
- Hardware: Computer capable of 3D work with dedicated GPU for Octane rendering
📝 Description
Aarón works like an illustrator who happens to render in 3D. You start with references and a loose moodboard, then lock a sketch that already thinks about composition: where the characters sit, where the typography lives, what props fill the gaps. No pretty render yet, just solid decisions on paper and vector.
Then you build it. Some shapes start as vectors in Illustrator and get extruded and cleaned in Cinema 4D, others you model straight in C4D. You will deal with simple props first, then heavier pieces and characters, and learn how to keep everything readable in one frame. Type is not slapped on top – it is part of the scene, with thickness, bevels, and placement that works in 3D space.
Animation is kept practical. You add movement with deformers and Pose Morph to give bounce to letters, objects, and faces without rigging a full character. From there you light the whole thing in Octane from zero, set up materials, and render. Final stretch is all about output: a GIF via Photoshop, a CMYK file for printed poster, plus cropped versions for social and a sticker set cut from your own characters.
