You’ll build a combat-ready attack helicopter in Unreal Engine 5.4 using only Blueprints – no C++ needed. From flight physics to weapons and getting in and out on foot, you finish with a playable system you can drop straight into your own game.
🎯 What you’ll learn
- Navigate and use the Unreal Engine 5.4 interface effectively
- Master Blueprint basics for interactive gameplay
- Create realistic helicopter flight mechanics
- Switch between helicopter and third-person character at runtime
- Use the Enhanced Input system for responsive controls
- Set up and manage a game project from start to finish
- Create smooth transitions between gameplay modes
- Design event-driven logic with Blueprints
- Integrate new Unreal Engine 5.4 features into your project
- Combine everything into a fully functional attack helicopter game
✅ Requirements

- Tools: Unreal Engine 5.4 installed, 3-button mouse and keyboard
- Hardware: PC or Mac capable of running Unreal Engine 5.4, dedicated GPU recommended
📝 Description
This one is project-first. You start with the Unreal Engine 5.4 interface, viewport, lights, Lumen, landscapes and Megascans, just enough to build a world to fly in. No long theory dumps. You touch it, you place it, you see it in-game.
Then we get into Blueprints properly. Variables, functions, event graph, construction script, nodes, components – all explained while you actually wire stuff up. If you’ve never coded, this is a good entry point. Visual scripting clicks fast when you see the helicopter respond.
The main build is the fun part. You set up a helicopter Blueprint, tune vehicle movement, add camera and Enhanced Input, then dial in lift, tilt, yaw and rotor spin. After that: engine on/off logic, sound effects, weapon fire, and runtime possession so you can hop out, walk around as a third-person character, and hop back in.
By the end you know how the pieces fit together in a real gameplay loop. Not just how to make something fly, but how to possess it, control it cleanly, and package it into a new map for your own project.
