Learn to create three-dimensional patterns and to apply volumetric solutions to your character designs
Omar Gad, founder of the Piti Piti studio and a textile sculptor specialized in three-dimensional patterns and volumetric solutions, will teach you the tools, the design methodology and the production techniques to develop an author’s textile character.
What will you learn in this online course?
You will begin by getting to know the influences and work of Omar Gad in the world of “Textile Toy” and its categories: “Plush Toy”, “Soft Toy” and “Plush Art”.
Next, you will discover the necessary materials and tools, learn the basic sewing techniques to create a handmade piece and how a sewing machine works.
As an example, Omar will start with some designs from the anniversary collection of his studio Piti Piti to explain previous questions about the choice of the character and the definition of the scale.
Finally during the production process, through different characters you will explore three types of volumetric solution: basic, intermediate and advanced. To do this, you will see the complete process of sketching, selection of materials, pattern making techniques, cutting, sewing and assembly of the pieces.

You will design three pieces with different levels of difficulty; from a simple character that will help you learn the basics of volume, pattern design and production up to a complex volume piece with extremities and details.

Requirements and materials
It is recommended to have certain basic knowledge about sewing but it is not essential. With enthusiasm and desire to create you can follow the instructions of the course without problems.
Regarding materials, you will need: notebook to sketch, needles, thread, felt cloth, scissors, geometry set, pen, pencil, paperboard, filler, tape measure, cutter and cutting surface. The use of the sewing machine is optional.
