Stylized Character Arts For Games (CGMA, Weston Reid, Group Buy)

In this comprehensive course, participants will acquire the skills to model and texture a stylized, hand-painted bust under the guidance of Weston Reid, Lead Character Artist at Moonshot Games. Over an 8-week duration, students will delve into the principles and workflows utilizing ZBrush, Substance Painter, 3DCoat, Photoshop, and Marmoset Toolbag. Key topics encompass dynamic subdivision, ZModeler techniques, greyscale generation in Substance Painter, painting in 3DCoat and Photoshop, and rendering/presentation using Toolbag.

STYLIZED CHARACTER ARTS FOR GAMES(CGMA, WESTON REID)

The course explores essential principles such as shape and silhouette, value range, and color theory. Students will gain insights into interpreting stylized concepts into 3D, addressing challenges, and enhancing areas in 3D. The curriculum includes a detailed understanding of combining ZModeler/dynamic subdivision with DynaMesh/ZRemesh workflows for creating a polished stylized model. Additionally, participants will learn to expedite the texturing process by utilizing bake maps, and hand-paint textures incorporating concepts of value, gradients, color theory, and light.

By the course’s conclusion, participants will have produced a stylized bust in both ZBrush and as a low-poly game art model, accompanied by a flat unlit texture.
