π Description
You know the theory. You still get flat results. That is exactly what this class tackles. YANGGAE starts with why outlines lie to you and how to think in points, planes, and boxes instead. You will work through perspective, construction, and camera angles with exercises that force you to rotate forms and keep them solid from any view.
Then comes color. Not tips like βjust add blue to shadows.β You learn how value structure, color keys, and glazing actually work together. YANGGAE breaks down hue, saturation, inherent value, and light-source color, then shows how to layer them so the painting stays bright and transparent. You will practice with gouache logic applied digitally, so muddy mixes stop happening.
Rendering gets very practical after that. Metal is not just white highlights. Skin is not just pink. You study how subsurface scattering, specular reflection, and diffuse reflection change what you paint for gemstones, glass, water, wood, stone, and jelly. Same idea for clothes β fabric rendering for silk behaves nothing like denim, leather, or vinyl, and you learn to adjust folds, highlights, and texture for each.
It all locks together in a full job-style workflow. You take a sketch through composition, color rough, character design cleanup, background, effects, and post-processing. Along the way YANGGAE talks about what actually sells: readability, silhouette, value contrast, and presentation for webtoons, covers, and game art.

π§βπ« About the Author
Hello, I’m YANGGAE, an illustrator. I have worked freelance for over ten years across webtoons, game art, animation, publishing, and VTubers. That mix forced me to figure out how to keep personal style while still delivering what clients can use. I now teach at Raum Academy, and in this class I share the exact form, light, and color system I use on real jobs, plus honest notes on workflow and getting past plateaus.
π Final Result
- A finished commercial character illustration with clean, luminous color, rendered materials, integrated background, and polished post-processing β ready for your portfolio.
