Learn to turn shaky sketches into clean, expressive black-and-white comic pages with INHAN's line art system.

If you want to draw your own story but freeze up at a blank page, this class gives you a clear, repeatable way to finish it. INHAN walks you through line art, pen pressure control, and black-and-white rendering to turn rough ideas into a readable 3-page comic you can actually share or print.

🎯 What you’ll learn

  • Draw clean, confident lines with pen pressure, inflection points, and brush settings
  • Turn a rough sketch into polished character line art without losing form
  • Design and stylize comic characters with consistent proportions and facial simplification
  • Use tones, solid blacks, and hatching to add depth and guide the reader’s eye
  • Draw easy backgrounds with perspective shapes, effect lines, and sound effects
  • Build thumbnails, panels, speech bubbles, and layouts for 1 to 3-page stories
  • Finish and export comics for web upload and print, including fonts and typesetting

βœ… Requirements

  • Skills: Basic drawing ability, familiarity with digital drawing fundamentals
  • Tools: Clip Studio Paint EX (1.13.2), drawing tablet and pen
  • Hardware: PC or tablet capable of running Clip Studio Paint smoothly

πŸ“ Description

Most beginners think good line art is about a steady hand. INHAN shows it’s about decisions. You’ll start with how lines actually work β€” weight, direction, where they bend, where they stop β€” then practice with pen pressure settings and simple shape exercises. No tracing, no guessing. You learn to pick the right line for the right detail, from faces and hair to clothes and hands.

Then you get into what makes black-and-white pop. This is the fun part: screentones, solid ink painting, and hatching. You’ll learn when to add tone and when to strip it out, how to set black-and-white values so panels stay readable, and how to use hatching density to fake light and volume. INHAN compares gray-heavy vs. ink-heavy vs. hatch-heavy pages side by side, so you can see what each choice does to mood and focus.

Characters get a practical treatment too. Instead of vague style tips, you work through symbolization and skeletal proportions, head structure, and facial simplification. That means your character looks like the same person from panel to panel, just with a different expression. If your art style shifts every shot, this fixes it.

The second half is all page-making. You’ll write short dialogue and narration, build thumbnail storyboards, set panel rows, place speech bubbles and sound effects, then go sketch to line art to tones to background β€” three times over. First with calm everyday scenes, then with tense dramatic scenes where composition and panel breaks do the storytelling. You also get INHAN’s workflow for perspective without pain, filling floors/walls/ceilings fast, and exporting for web and print.

Everything is exercise-driven. You get 22 practice files for lines, tones, hair, emotions, and full pages, plus font and printing manuals. By the end you’re not just practicing strokes, you’re finishing pages.
