Corazon Bryant has always possessed a natural artistic talent. Even at the tender age of 2, she would create detailed drawings on her mother’s wall, which her mother cherished and kept. With her mother’s encouragement, Corazon continued to hone her skills, and her artistic abilities improved with time. In middle and high school, Corazon earned money by creating portraits for classmates and teachers. She pursued a college degree in Media Arts & Animation and went on to work for prominent architectural and entertainment companies such as Camm Productions, ID DI Design, and PDT International. Corazon also freelanced for Mega Pickle Entertainment and discovered her passion for teaching while working as a 3D artist. She had the opportunity to teach 3D animation classes in an A+ school, where she found joy in inspiring and mentoring young aspiring artists. Currently, Corazon is working on a new project called Victory 3D, collaborating with other experienced professionals in the industry to develop an affordable and effective learning system that helps students land jobs in the 3D industry.
Course Info
If you are struggling to create realistic characters, it’s likely because you haven’t yet mastered human anatomy. As a professional 3D artist and educator, I’m Corazon Bryant, and in this course, I will provide you with in-depth knowledge of human anatomy.
We will begin by learning about the bones of the body, understanding their landmarks, and how muscles connect to them. This understanding of the skeletal system will enable us to sculpt realistic human bodies accurately.
Next, we will dive into the details of individual muscles that are visible on the surface of the skin. We will study their origins and insertions, allowing us to place the muscles accurately in our sculpts. Accurate depiction of attachment points is crucial in creating realistic characters, whether you’re using references or your imagination.
We will also delve into the differences in proportions between male and female bodies, and I will show you how to study anatomy effectively to achieve great results. By dissecting the surface forms seen in real photos, we will gain clarity in our drawing or sculpting, avoiding guesswork and ensuring precision in our work.
Once we are familiar with human anatomy, we will apply what we’ve learned to create a character from scratch. We will start by defining the basic shape and structure of the character and then add layers of detail such as wrinkles and pores to bring our character to life.
To enhance the visual appeal of our character, we will go through the process of texturing. This will involve creating clean UVs for our character to ensure seamless application of colors and textures. We will then project high-poly details to our low-poly mesh and bake our texture map. Creating realistic skin blemishes will add depth to our character, and we will construct a skin shader to make our character look believable. We will also use Blender’s hair system to create hair for our character’s head and body, shaping it through sculpting and geometry nodes.
To give our character mobility and personality, we will go through the process of rigging. We will set up a skeletal system that allows us to adjust individual joints and pose our character in any way we can imagine. Finally, we will take our work into Photoshop or any other 2D software of our choice to enhance our character and create an appealing background.
