In this new DMP course, members are going to be put to work, with prof Ludovic Iochem providing feedback as well as tips and tricks to help them take their digital matte painting skills to the next level. This course is the next step in the foundation of our three part DMP201, DMP202, and DMP203 series and will be utilizing techniques taught in those courses.
Ludo will provide a detailed brief of the assignment, including some of the key challenges as well as a few hints to get members started on the project. Members will have several days to start the project and submit it on the forums before the next class, where Ludo will show how he would approach the project. He’ll also provide feedback on the initial submissions, providing an opportunity for members to revise and then re-submit their projects.
The course will be a useful mix of challenging projects, instruction and techniques provided by the prof, as well as a feedback loop which will help everyone learn. Having your work critiqued as well as seeing others go through the same process is an incredible learning experience, especially when provided by someone at Ludo’s knowledge level.
Ludo is a Digital Matte Artist – Environment Artist working at Double Negative, London. His credits include a variety of projects, from Bourne Ultimatum, Quantum of Solace, Tree of Life, or Love in the time of Cholera, to Thor – the Dark World, Hellboy 2, Total Recall or Dredd. He’s now working as Lead Environment Artist, and is currently involved in the next Ridley Scott project, the book of Exodus.
