Learn the basic theories and techniques of 3D scanning to create models from real objects
Photogrammetry, although its name is difficult to pronounce, is a simple concept: in its most basic expression, it is nothing more than the science of measuring from photographs. Additionally, 3D photogrammetry is the aspect that converts images into 3D models through scanning, to be used in video games, VFX and more audiovisual productions.

In this course you will enter the world of 3D photogrammetry by David Chumilla, a 3D artist with experience in video games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Forza Horizon 3 and The Walking Dead.

What will you learn in this online course?
At the beginning of the course David will introduce himself, he will tell you about his professional career and about the influences that have marked him the most as an artist.

Then, he will explain the theory and basis of 3D photogrammetry, so that you learn and understand the necessary basic principles, and execute this 3D scanning technique. You will choose an object you wish to scan and you will address the necessary preparation and preproduction steps of your final project.

Once the basics have been assimilated, you will take action and see what a photogrammetry session in situ looks like, focusing on how the process of capturing a real object with your camera should be addressed.

Once this is done, you will enter the digital part of the process. You will learn to clean and correct the photos of your session in Adobe Photoshop.

Finally, you will approach the process of reconstruction of the 3D model in Agisoft and you will see very useful postproduction techniques to present your scanning work in the most colorful and hyperrealistic way possible.

What is this course’s project?
You will photograph and rebuild in 3D a bulky object of your choice, applying the different techniques and processes learned during the course.

Who is this online course for?
To anyone who wants to enter the world of 3D scanning, especially digital artists interested in the production of 3D models or hyperrealistic textures for professional productions.
