For an illustrator as prolific as Alberto Montt, creating characters with character quickly and effectively is a fundamental issue. The Chilean illustrator is known for his famous blog ‘Dosis Diarias’, where, since 2006, every day he publishes a vignette full of humor with unique characters. He has also published more than twenty books, illustrated 40 others, as well as magazines, advertising campaigns and limited edition products for Puma or Kross and several live shows.

In this course Montt will share with you his formula for creating characters: a quick and simple method that he has developed after many years of work. It will teach you to draw with style and humor from the game, to pass your handmade drawing to a digital format with Illustrator and Photoshop and to create a functional chromatic palette for your comics.

You will start knowing Alberto Montt, who will talk to you about what has led him to be an illustrator, about the search to find his style and know some of his biggest influences.

Then you will discover the importance of the game when creating characters. You will return to the most basic technique: draw with sticks as a starting point or base structure to create a character.

Montt will explain the advantages of working in Illustrator and learn some tips to create a basic color palette easily and quickly.

Once you have the sketch of your character you will digitize it. You will see how to migrate a drawing from Photoshop to Illustrator and vice versa, learning how both programs complement each other to facilitate your work as an illustrator.

You will perform several experimentation exercises creating characters and elements as an initial step of your infinite creative journey.
