Fernando Aguilera, illustrator and 3D artist never tires of exploring new tools and ways of giving life to his characters. Both for your professional assignments and your personal projects, always try to optimize resources to obtain impeccable results.

In this course you will discover what is your process of conceptualization and modeling of characters, learning several tricks to reduce render times and modeling, using the new tools of Maya 2017, beyond the conventional scheme of the work process.

What will you learn in this online course?
You will begin knowing the project that you will develop throughout the course. In addition, Fernando will detail the details of your work process and will guide you when familiarizing yourself with Maya’s basic interface.

You will learn topology principles, key concepts to develop and start modeling the main parts of your 3D illustration. And you will discover the different tools, conventional and recent, to model in Maya.

Once the main forms are created, you will learn to work with MASH to create complex patterns that you can apply to various elements of your digital illustration.

You will also create a rig, which will help you pose different elements and the character in a natural way.

Then, you will see the bases of the render with Arnold and you will learn to take advantage of its different tools to illuminate a scene and apply all kinds of textures in your 3D illustration.

Finally, Fernando will show you how to make the last adjustments in Photoshop.

What is this course’s project?
You will make the illustration of a character in Maya, from its basic structure to its post-production in Photoshop. In addition, Fernando will guide you in the process of creating one of his personal illustrations: Mambacore.

Requirements and materials
You should have basic Maya knowledge, be familiar with basic 3D modeling processes and, know how to handle an image editing program such as Photoshop or similar.
