Violeta Hernández—ilustrator, artist and designer—will teach you different techniques to design and illustrate a Fanzine.

You will discover his method of work, what inspires him (texts, illustrations and stories), you will make a brief review of the history of the fanzine, different printing methods and their materials.

You will learn different techniques of manual and digital illustration, edit your photos, make a layout, choose fonts and lay out all the elements in a professional way.

About this course
You will start knowing better the trajectory and the influences of Violeta Hernández.

Then you will review the history of the fanzine from the underground comic to the types of fanzine: literary, illustrated, music and design.

After an initial concept, you will create your own fanzine. Violeta will guide you when defining the theme, the texts, the format, the layout, the type of paper, the printing and some editorial tips for editorial.

Once we have the structure of the fanzine ready, you will delve into the methodology of illustration and Violet as the pencil drawing and the digital.

Then you will learn how to edit your images and create a layout in InDesign by selecting fonts and preparing the file for professional printing.

Finally, you will learn how to assemble all the pages of your fanzine, bind it, prepare a packaging and leave it ready to be distributed.

You will make an illustrated Fanzine, designed, printed and packed for you, ready to distribute.

To designers, illustrators, artists and all those creatives eager to express themselves, illustrate their stories, or even better: illustrate their own stories and give them printed output.

What you need
To do this course you will need basic knowledge of drawing and design, taste for short readings of fantastic character or fiction and basic level of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Regarding the materials, you will use pencils, papers of different textures, colors and formats, a computer, a scanner and a printer.
