Learn to tell stories by photographing streets and people in your city
Every day you have the opportunity to see many everyday situations that call your attention. Converting them into stories through photographs is the main objective of this course taught by Nicanor García, architect and photographer who has worked for clients such as Tommy Hilfiger, Smart, HP, Sony or the Catalan Tourism Agency.
You will learn to pay attention to the details of the streets through which you walk, discover the specialness of each building, its details, to capture the people in your environment. All this taking advantage of the best light and focus in each moment. This course will help you make and edit photographs that explain what you see clearly and intentionally.
About this course
In this course you will learn to develop a good process of preproduction of your photographs. For this, in the hands of Nicanor you will learn to choose the best camera for each situation and purpose. You will know the advantages of the different cameras that exist in the market and finally you will see the types of objectives for mobile, APS-C and Full Frame.
You will also know more in depth the accessories that you can use when making your photo session (memory cards, tripods, kneecaps, editing pointers on iPad, graphic tablets and more) and you will plan the taking of images through visits previous virtual tours, tourist and architectural guides and information tracking.
Below you will discover the techniques on lighting and framing adjustments used by Nicanor when making their reports, both for camera and mobile photography.
Finally you will see basic editing concepts and learn tricks to touch up your images in Photoshop and with simple iPad tools.
What is this course’s project?
The final project is to make a report of your city through 10 or 15 photographs of the different topics you can find when you walk through it. Each photo has to have its own personality, but all of them have to form a story that gives your point of view about the place where you live.

The course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about urban photography and architecture. Photographers, reporters, travelers, architects and any citizen who has an interest in photographing their city or a city they are visiting.

The main requirement is to be curious. From there it is necessary to have a camera or a mobile phone and basic knowledge of image editing.
