π Description
You start with context. Rafael walks you through where book covers came from, what they are actually for, and how designers solve them today β image-led, type-led, conceptual, illustrative. Short lessons, clear examples. No theory for theory’s sake.
Then you get to work. You pick your classic, read it with a designerβs eye, and pull out themes, characters, and tone you can actually draw. Rafael shows you how to check whatβs already been done so you donβt repeat it, and how to push quick sketches until one idea sticks.
Production is straight editorial workflow. Vector work in Illustrator, texture and color in Photoshop, then assembly in InDesign. Youβll sort out typography for title, author, and spine, test your cover in mock-ups to see if it reads at thumbnail size and in hand, and then prep print-ready files β bleeds, color, finishes β so you can hold a real physical copy at the end.
