In this course, students delve into a comprehensive journey starting with exploring initial designs, utilizing references to enhance believability. Following the initial design phase, the curriculum covers rough character posing and thumbnailing compositions. Generating a multitude of poses and thumbnails, students merge their favorite concepts into a final composition plan. This serves as the foundation for the rough pass, where composition details are expanded.
Moving forward, the course delves deeper into final line art, exploring techniques like overlap and line weight for depth portrayal. Subsequently, students refine compositions through tonal passes, incorporating atmospheric perspectives and rudimentary lighting. The final touches, including shadows and effects, cap off the piece, providing an option for further coloring or painting stages. Additional topics span basic anatomy, the rule of thirds, character appeal through personality and contrast considerations, along with handy Photoshop tips and tricks. Moreover, students gain insights into essential formats and ratios for film or sequential art compositions.
