My name is Evgeniya Righini-Brand, and I am a graphic designer at Attitude Creative. I specialize in creating abstract, organic, and geometric patterns, and I also teach several classes on the subject. One of my favorite techniques is generating Turing Patterns, which I fell in love with as soon as I learned the basic method. I discovered that there are many creative possibilities beyond just imitating natural uniform surface patterns, including introducing repeatability and exploring different tile sizes, symmetry, and distortions. Mixing these properties in different combinations allows you to generate an infinite number of unique designs with different character.

In this class, I will show you how to use this simple technique to quickly and easily create various surface pattern designs that you can incorporate as graphic elements into any graphic design, illustration, or branding project, apply to various print-on-demand products, or sell as digital assets. While you may already know how to generate Turing patterns in Adobe Photoshop, there is much more to learn. In this class, you will learn the basic technique for generating Turing patterns using Smart Objects, Smart Filters, and Actions, as well as a smart non-destructive workflow for generating seamlessly repeatable Turing pattern tiles. I will also teach you how to create patterns with different character by using different tile sizes, exploring symmetry and structural distortions, how to speed up your workflow with sets of handy actions, and how to color and apply your patterns.

This class is suitable for anyone who loves the look of organic generative patterns, whether you are a beginner or an experienced graphic or pattern designer, illustrator, or digital artist. By the end of the class, you will have a range of reusable assets (Master Files, Actions & Pattern Swatches) to use in your future projects and will be fully equipped to run wild with experiments and create a lot of different patterns in just a few clicks! I can’t wait to see all the patterns and surface designs you create, so join me in this class, and let’s push Turing patterns beyond their basics!
