Hello, my name is Kris! I’m a comic artist currently working on a published series “Cape of Spirits” through WEBTOON. Previously an illustrator for the Entertainment/Animation industry, I always believed that would be my career forever since creating comics for a living seemed like a far away dream. This has changed for me recently.

A webtoon is a certain style of webcomic specifically made for easy mobile viewing, where the layout is arranged in a vertical scrolling format. Webtoons has been a fast-growing industry that is opening up many opportunities for creators. I am thrilled to teach anyone who’s also interested in creating their comics in this format! In this class, I’ll share everything I learned from pre-production to finishing a series, and how to work in the most efficient manner so creators can get their story out as much as possible. This course is both for hobby creators, and for those who aspire to make it into a career.

You will learn:

  • -Planning a script, breaking down your story, setting, characters, and etc.
  • -Storyboarding for vertical style comics. How to format your panels, and how to structure your “episode” from start to finish.
  • -Efficient ways of improving your workflow. How can you draw a 30-60+ panel in one week, with such limited time?
There are many tools and tricks to achieve this! (Blood sacrifice is optional.)
  • -Managing your schedule so you can manage your updates in the most consistent way possible.
  • -Marketing your webtoon, and creating a pitch to a potential publisher.

Requirements:

-Must be familiar with using digital software and tools. Clip Studio Paint is recommended, but Photoshop and other drawing software is perfectly fine.
-Basic knowledge of drawing is required, since we will focus more on storytelling rather than drawing fundamentals. All skills and styles are welcome.
