CLASS DETAILS
Learn to make eye-catching and exhilarating action sequences!

Great action sequences make anyone stop in their tracks! By establishing a rhythm and setting up the right action beats, you can tell an entire story inside a well planned action sequence that includes drama, mounting tension, and physics of your world. I’ll show you my process of how I break down an action sequence from thumbnails to moving animatics with sound design.

Using a typical TV six week schedule breakdown, I’ll present lectures, storyboard sequences from beginning to end, and direct sequences that you’re assigned at the beginning of class. These sequences will be based on a loose template of action beats where you’ll plug in characters and the setting of your choice. I’ll give notes like any director would during production to push your work to be the most impactful and memorable piece that we can make during our time together.

OUTCOMES
Students will have a better understanding of how to construct a dynamic, pulse-pounding action sequence that’s timed and ready to play in Toonboom Storyboard Pro. Students will also have a sequence of their own to add to their portfolio, ready to share online!
