Table of Contents

01 Blocking
Let’s get started with the Art of Blocking! The purpose of blocking is to play around with ideas and quickly iterate over several versions of a model, in order to find the right direction. During blocking it’s essential to keep things simple, both in terms of shapes and materials – and do not be afraid to throw things away!

02 Concept Art
In this quick chapter we are discussing the importance of proper concept art for a thorough design and take a look at two concept shots of this artwork that utilized painting and photobashing techniques to nail down materials, lighting and mood of the final image.

03 Modeling – Part 1
Finally we are creating the high-res model for our scene! In this chapter we will go over a few basic modeling techniques as well as the first part of the production timelapse.

03 Modeling – Part 2
In the second part of the Modeling chapter we will be finishing up the modeling of our vehicle and learn about some advanced modeling techniques to create for example 3D text signs or strawberries.

04 Texturing and Lighting
In the final chapter we will learn some nifty techniques for semi-procedural texturing without having to unwrap the whole model and staying flexible and non-destructive. Placing the lights and creating the environment then finishes up this workshop!
