Still Life Phase I

/

Release date:2020

Author:Jeff Watts

Skill level:Beginner

Language:English

Exercise files:Yes

Basic composition, staging, and limited palettes will be the emphasis of this phase. The phase begins with one object rendered in each of the 3 palettes: Burnt Umber Pick-Out, Burnt Umber White, and Phthalo Blue Black and White. You will then work up to two (and ultimately three) objects. Instructor Jeff Watts will go over basic set-ups, touch on patinas, focus on the inherent quality embodied in any object, and demonstrate brushmanship. By this time you may be tiring a bit of the limited monochromatic palettes. Remember, repetition is the mother of skill. Jeff himself used each palette he is introducing for at least six months to a year. You will, ideally, be doing the same.

  1. Thank you very much for uploading the three Still Life classes from Watts Atelier. Are the class PDFs with the reference images available to upload for any of these classes?

    Thanks again!

      • Unfortunately materials.7z only contains a text file with a list of paints and brushes used (a 17kB file).

All the of the other Watts Atelier classes (other than the 3 Still Life phase classes) appear to have the PDF handouts included. It would be very useful if these are available, so one can complete the exercise demonstrated.

Thank you very much for all the great material available!
